Your Safety is Priority.

Anonymous Feedback Encouraged

During this training, we provide numerous ways for you to give feedback on your experience in an anonymous way: meaning that if you feel uncomfortable sharing something directly with any one of our team members, there is still a route to sharing your concerns, both within the space or digitally.

We also give participants the opportunity to provide anonymous feedback on completion of the program - on the final day - so that we can incorporate and respond to any areas where improvement is needed, and/or aspects of the individual's experience that were outside of our awareness, which requires our attention.

You can always report a concern, or incident to us anonymously here: >> https://forms.gle/7cEUDhMF2aDVu1G56

Well-Trained Team Working Within Their Scope of Practice

All of our teaching team have previously received Trauma Awareness training, or have many years experience working safely in the field with traumatised communities, received substantial training in a trauma-treatment modality, and had many hours of supervision developing their skill-set.

Our team have been police checked, and extensively screened, and all hold certifications in evidence-based modalities for trauma recovery and related treatment: including TRE, NARM, Somatic Experiencing, Somatic Trauma Recovery, Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Social Work, Counselling, or Psychotherapy.

Our facilitation team has substantial experience, and our intention is to ensure everyone remains within their Scope of Practice. For example: a Soothe Operator support person may hand over your care to another team member, or ask you to wait while they find someone who has a greater skillset to handle the situation.

Extensive Student Screening Process

We have an extensive application process that screens potential students to assess their suitability for the program, this includes gaining an understanding of their trauma history and therapeutic work that’s been undertaken to process and recover. We also assess suitability based on prior professional trainings and experience, as well as the individual's resources and capacity to remain inside the Window of Tolerance during the training and access to support outside of the container.

Preparation Guidelines Provided

We provide all students who are accepted into the training with preparation guidelines and advise that prior, during, and after the event they limit other activities and other work and do not subscribe to other retreats, workshops, or trainings so that they have time and space to fully be in the experience and integrate what is arising.

Dynamic Consent Established and Constant Choice Given

We understand fully that consent is a dynamic experience for all, and that those with a relational trauma history - particularly involving physical, sexual, or mental abuse - will struggle to give authentic verbal consent due to the likelihood they will slip into a fawn/freeze state and be unable to voice their true needs. Consequently, we operate within group agreements that give clarity to any exercise involving touch.

We apply the Wheel of Consent and explore the dynamics of shut-down/freeze, and the challenges of safe touch for students and clients in being able to communicate needs and provide several non-verbal techniques for doing this, which we also use throughout.

Furthermore, consent is consistently established throughout the training and you are guided constantly to follow your body rather than what is being offered by the teacher: this includes pausing, pulling back, resting, taking a bathroom or food break, moving to a space or position that is more comfortable for you, leaving the room, moving to the Soothing or Activating spaces provided, asking for help and assistance from a staff member.

We use invitational language, you will never be told you “have to” do anything, and you will consistently be offered choice.

No Hugging Unless Requested

Hugging is never offered or accepted within our trainings unless it is invited with clear verbal consent between the two individuals.

Facilitators and our support team do not give hugs, unless invited by a participant. We do however use safe, somatic co-regulation practices to support your nervous system if it is clear that you are in need of assistance. We will direct you into self-regulation practices so you can self-support in ways that give you body autonomy, and provide an opportunity to learn by doing.

Felt Sense of Safety Practices

In the Opening Circle we begin with a Felt Sense of Safety Somatic Practice, which includes the option for you to explore walking out of the physical space to honor your flight response. This choice is maintained throughout the training: you have the option to sit out of any practice, at any time. In this instance, one of our team will check in on you, where you will be given the chance to process what is arising, and to re-join the group as an observer until you have been fully resourced and regulated again.

No Sexual / Romantic Connections

We do not allow any form of romantic or sexual liaison between our facilitation team and participants, either during or after the program. Additionally, we have a group agreement that participants will not seek to connect romantically during or for a minimum of 60 days following their graduation of the training.

Zero Tolerance: Bullying, Abuse, Manipulation

We have a zero-tolerance policy regarding the use of substances, violence, verbal abuse, racism, sexism, bullying, coercion, unsolicited selling to fellow participants, and any other behaviours that could cause harm.

If you experienced anything during the training that made you feel uncomfortable in any way, please report this to our team via this form:  >> https://forms.gle/7cEUDhMF2aDVu1G56
